MODULE 21 THE NEW TESTAMENT WAY TO DEAL WITH YOUR HUMAN ENEMIES BY EVANGELIST OGHOGHOR IKPONMWOSA (PHD)

In this module we shall continue to look at what Apostle John said in re-echoing what Jesus said about love.

1 John 4:7-12

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

In this scripture Apostle John tells us to love one another. It is what we have to do. It is our responsibility to walk in love. We cannot blame God for our failure to carry out the responsibility He expects us to carry out.
It is the Holy Spirit who empowers us to walk in love but we have to cooperate with Him by choosing to walk in love and acting out our choices to love while He supplies the strength to do it.

We are told here that love is of God and everyone who walks in love is born of God and knows God. In order words walking in love is the direct way to know someone who is born of God and knows God.
Anyone who is born of God must live out the love nature that has been imparted to him by the Holy Spirit at salvation. Jesus said by their fruits you shall know them (Matthew 7:16-20).

Bearing the fruit of love is the way to know that we are born of God and that we know God. Anyone who does not walk in love is not doing righteousness hence he will be seen to have committed sin (transgression of the New Testament law of Christ) and abiding in darkness and spiritual death (Gal 6:1-2, 1John 3:4-11,14-15, 2:9-10).

We were made the righteousness of God at salvation (2Cor 5:21) but we are required to do righteousness (1John 3:7,10) (or to walk in love) as the proof of the righteousness of God that we have been made. Love fulfils the righteousness of the law and the Prophets (Romans 13:8-10, Matthew 22:36-40).

Apostle John came out very clear to say that someone who does not walk in love does not know God because God is love. In other words we are telling a lie that we know God if we are not walking in love.
He went further to explain to us that the love of God has been manifested to us when He gave Jesus to die for us so that we may live through Him. He was showing us the kind of love that has been imparted to us at salvation. This is the kind of love we are to demonstrate. We are to love God and men unconditionally.
We did not love God before He loved us. God loved us first including those we would consider “unloveable”. We could never love God and men if He had not first demonstrated His love towards us and then made it possible for us to be empowered to love one another by His Spirit given to us.

Apostle John told us that if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
No man has seen God at any time. Many of us claim to love God but fail to love men that we can see physically. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and His love is perfected in us.
We are to show the God kind of love to one another. This is how we dwell or abide in God or in the vine according to the illustration Jesus gave in John 15:1-12.

It is not enough to be grafted into the vine. We must continue to abide in the vine or in God by walking in love.

By choosing to walk in the love of God, we are bearing fruit and showing that God dwells in us and His love is perfected in us. Brethren we cannot afford not to walk in love.

To be continued…

Story of how LESTER SUMRALL met with HOWARD CARTER

LESTER Sumrall was a 20th century giant of faith, and worldwide missionary statesman, who demonstrated the power of the gospel in his pastoral and evangelical ministry. He also had a personal relationship with Smith Wigglesworth. And travelled widely with Howard Carter. This, culled from Dr. Sumrall's 'Pioneers of Faith', is the story of how he met Mr. Carter. It was 1932. Brother Lester was 19, and brother Howard was 41: I was sitting in a little church in Tennessee looking at the young man who was leading the music. Suddenly, the scene before me vanished, and I saw thousands of Japanese, Chinese, Lndians, Malaysians, Indonesians, Indians, Africans, Latin Americans, Europeans and people from the ocean islands on one road going one direction ...Trembling and crying, I asked, "What shall I do?" God said, "You have to go to these people." I said, "I don't like those people. I have never seen a Japanese person in my life. I don't know tho...

THE OLD CONVENANT IS A SHADOW OF THE NEW CONVENANT [pt 4] - Min. Awe Hilary

It is an interesting fact to know that 99.99% of most religions practiced today are imitations of either the Mosaic law as given to the Jews by God or idolatry as invented by men through the interface of spiritual entities as a way of worship. Idol worship and the Mosaic law are the oldest well known religious institutions that have existed on the earth. The Mosaic law which is the Old Convenant is a shadow of the New Convenant which could not come into effect as long as the law was still in place. Hebrews 9:8 [AMP]: By this the Holy Spirit signifies that the way into the Holy Place [the true Holy of Holies and the presence of God] has not yet been disclosed as long as the first or outer tabernacle is still standing [that is, as long as the Levitical system of worship remains a recognized institution]. More also, if the Old Convenant is a shadow of the New Convenant, then it signifies that they both have One Spirit [The Spirit of God], same pattern with different realities but one purp...
