The riches of Jesus Christ represents the abundance of God and all possibilities which can be found in Him. This means that all things are possible in God and there is absolutely nothing that He cannot do because He is the originator of all things.
Colossians 1:16 [AMP]:
For by Him all things were created in heaven and on earth, [things] visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things were created and exist through Him [that is, by His activity] and for Him.
The world exist by God's activity and everything is held together by Him, which are created for His pleasure. The world belongs to God and everything in it, for there was no existence without Him, and everything existing has its source from God.
Colossians 1:17 [AMP]:
And He Himself existed and is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. [His is the controlling, cohesive force of the universe.]
However, the pre- incarnate Christ as being eternally co- existent in God and as God [Jesus Christ is the Word at the beginning], set aside all these privileges as the creator of the world and all things that could be found in it, to take a lesser position as a man in the flesh, being made lower than the angels for the salvation of mankind, who inherited the nature of sin through the flesh in the person of the first Adam.
Hebrews 2:9 [AMP]:
But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while [by taking on the limitations of humanity], crowned with glory and honor because of His suffering of death, so that by the grace of God [extended to sinners] He might experience death for [the sins of] everyone.
Jesus Christ did not consider Himself to be equal with God, even when He is God by nature, but took the form of a servant by being born as a man and obedient unto death on the cross of Calvary.
Philippians 2:6 [AMP]:
who, although He existed in the form and unchanging essence of God [as One with Him, possessing the fullness of all the divine attributes—the entire nature of deity], did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped or asserted [as if He did not already possess it, or was afraid of losing it];
Philippians 2:7 [AMP]:
but emptied Himself [without renouncing or diminishing His deity, but only temporarily giving up the outward expression of divine equality and His rightful dignity] by assuming the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men [He became completely human but was without sin, being fully God and fully man].
Philippians 2:8 [AMP]:
After He was found in [terms of His] outward appearance as a man [for a divinely-appointed time], He humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of death, even death on a cross.
However, the riches of Jesus Christ is the existence and the reality of the abundance of the promise, for no man can give what he does not have. In the second letter of Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians, he stated that the eagerness to give is accepted according to what a person has and not what he does not have.
2 Corinthians 8:12 [AMP]:
For if the eagerness [to give] is there, it is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have.
Moreover, the poverty of Jesus Christ is in the letting go of His divine privileges as God, by not taking advantage of it, but through His submission as a servant that all men will receive the abundance of God's glory through Him.
2 Corinthians 8:9 [AMP]:
For you are recognizing [more clearly] the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [His astonishing kindness, His generosity, His gracious favor], that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that by His poverty you might become rich (abundantly blessed).
THINGS TO NOTE:
1. All things are possible with God.
2. The value of wealth is defined in Jesus Christ, for anything outside Christ is perishing and would eventually perish. There is no eternal value in such, hence no reward.
3. Don't seek for things, but Jesus Christ, because in Him lies your purpose, and in your purpose lies the wealth of God.
4. Don't limit yourself in Jesus Christ, for in Him all things are possible, and you can do all things through Christ which strengthens you.
