In the first part of this article, I concluded with the following statement extracted from the book called, Your Power in the Holy Spirit by John G. Lake, which states thus;
" A successive dispensation of God never destroys a preceding one. On the contrary, it conserves it's spirit but broadens it's scope. This is obviously seen by comparing the Patriarchal, Mosaic, and Christian dispensations" - John G. Lake
The Mosaic law which is referred to as the Old Convenant, which was obtained from Mount Sinai through the instrumentality of angels to Moses, who acted as the mediator of the Old Convenant, served as a foundation that would usher the progressive works of God unto the fulfilment of His promise, which is the revelation of the New Convenant.
Jeremiah 31:31 [AMP]:
“Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel (the Northern Kingdom) and with the house of Judah (the Southern Kingdom),
This promise by God through the prophet, Jeremiah puts to rest every form of ambiguity that may present itself with regards to future worship by God's people. God does nothing without revealing it to His servants, the prophets and His words are fulfilled in due season.
Amos 3:7 [AMP]:
Surely the Lord GOD does nothing Without revealing His secret plan [of the judgment to come] To His servants the prophets.
Morealso, the all knowing and all seeing God, knew before time that there would be a prolification of false worship and faith on the earth, hence He spoke concerning the New Convenant even when the Old Convenant was in place, so that the children of Israel will not be deceived when He does what He intends to do. The prophecies of the New Convenant and how it will be unveiled were recorded in the Old Testament to keep tract of the gradual progression from the Old Convenant into the New Convenant.
However, if the first convenant [ The Mosaic Law] was without fault or defect, then there would be no need for a second one [The Ne Convenant in Jesus Christ].
Hebrews 8:7 [AMP]:
For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion for a second one or an attempt to institute another one [the new covenant].
The word faultless is translated from the Greek word AMEMPTOS which is interpreted as something being without a defect or blameless. If the law is considered as having a fault or defect, does that infer that the law of the perfect God was unrighteous? Or that God Himself is unrighteous?
Paul the Apostle answers the question by stating that the law is holy and the commandments of God are holy, righteous and good.
Romans 7:12 [AMP]:
So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.
So, if the law is holy and the commandments of God are holy and righteouss, how did the law which is good bring about death?
