The levitical priesthood was the only approved priesthood under the law because it draws it's authority from the regulations and divine worship as enshrined in the Mosaic law.
Exodus 28:41 [AMP]:
You shall put the various articles of clothing on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him, and shall anoint them and ordain and sanctify them, so that they may serve Me as priests.
Exodus 28:43 [AMP]:
The various articles of clothing shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they enter the Tent of Meeting, or when they approach the altar [of incense] to minister in the Holy Place, so that they do not incur guilt and die. It shall be a statute forever to Aaron and to his descendants after him.
Moreover, while Apostle John was in the Spirit and taken into the tarbenacle of heaven, he saw Jesus Christ in the midst of the seven golden lampstands.
Revelation 1:13 [AMP]:
and in the midst of the lampstands I saw someone like the Son of Man, dressed in a robe reaching to His feet, and with a golden sash wrapped around His chest.
His appearance in the midst of the seven golden lampstands was not like that of a black man or white man or any other colour as it's been suggested by white and black supremacist groups, or other social cultural or ethnic affiliations, but as the image of God.
Revelations 1:14 [AMP]:
His head and His hair were white like white wool, [glistening white] like snow; and His [all-seeing] eyes were [flashing] like a flame of fire [piercing into my being].
Revelations 1:15 [AMP]:
His feet were like burnished [white-hot] bronze, refined in a furnace, and His voice was [powerful] like the sound of many waters.
Also, inorder not to present any form of ambiguity to His personality, He introduced Himself to Apostle John.
Revelations 1:17 [AMP]:
When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead. And He placed His right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last [absolute Deity, the Son of God],
Revelations 1:18 [AMP]:
and the Ever-living One [living in and beyond all time and space]. I died, but see, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of [absolute control and victory over] death and of Hades (the realm of the dead).
However, it is important to note the following about the appearance of Jesus Christ in the Holy place in the tabernacle of heaven.
1. The appearance of Jesus Christ in the midst of the seven golden lampstands, indicates a change of priesthood from the levitical priesthood to the royal priesthood of Christ. This is because Jesus Christ fulfilled the law and it's requirements, hence Christ is now the standard and no longer the Mosaic law, which necessitates for a change of priesthood.
Hebrews 7:12 [AMP]:
For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is of necessity a change of the law [concerning the priesthood] as well.
2. It is very important to also take note of the attire that Jesus Christ wore at the tabernacle of heaven. He was dressed in a long robe or garment which signifies priesthood with a golden sash girded around His chest.
Revelation 1:13 [AMP]:
and in the midst of the lampstands I saw someone like the Son of Man, dressed in a robe reaching to His feet, and with a golden sash wrapped around His chest.
The interesting part of this, is that the levitical priesthood under the Mosaic law, dressed in a similar pattern with long robes and a sash on their chest.
Exodus 29:5 [AMP]:
Then you shall take the garments, and put on Aaron the tunic and the robe of the ephod and the ephod and the breastpiece, and wrap him with the skillfully woven sash of the ephod;
Exodus 29:9 [AMP]:
And you shall wrap them with sashes, Aaron and his sons, and put the [ornamental] caps on them; and the priest’s office shall be theirs by a perpetual statute. So you shall ordain Aaron and his sons.
3. Jesus Christ is the High Priest of the church and all who are in God.
Hebrews 4:14 [AMP]:
Inasmuch then as we [believers] have a great High Priest who has [already ascended and] passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith and cling tenaciously to our absolute trust in Him as Savior].
