The new man in Jesus Christ is a person whose outward nature testifies of an evidential inward transformation; that is a person renewed from inside out.
2 Corinthians 5:17 [NLT]:
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
This is one of the greatest miracles that affirms that a man has come in contact with the Spirit of God, and that God has become resident in his life. This interaction between God and man through the Holy Spirit, brings about a change in orientation and perspective, causing mankind to align with with the ways of God which showcases His Nature and Spirituality.
1 Corinthians 2:14 [NLT];
But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.
The natural man feeds on the information coming from the flesh, but the new man in Christ is a spirit filled man who is attentive and receptive to the voice of the Spirit of God. This experience is made possible and seamless through the encounter of the Holy Spirit, but unfortunately some believers have not had an encounter with the Spirit of God, hence they struggle to live the new life on a trial and error bases through their works.
Titus 3:5 [NLT]:
he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
John G. Lake states in one of his books as thus;
"The difficulty with the church has been that people are induced to confess their sins to Christ and acknowledge Him as Saviour, and they stop" - John G. Lake
He goes further to state that in the above statement lies the condition of about 85% professing Christians in the world. This probably explains why we have a large number of professing Christians who are not shining the light of Christ to the world.
In this series, we shall be looking at how a believer in Christ can experience being a new creature in God.
