The worshippers of God during the era of the Mosaic law had what we call a guilt complex, for they always had a guilty conscience before God. They felt unworthy and less deserving to come into the presence of God, because deep down within themselves there was a consciousness of sin and a need to always offer animal sacrifices as a way of clearing their conscience before God.
Hebrews 9:9 [AMP]:
for this [first or outer tabernacle] is a symbol [that is, an archetype or paradigm] for the present time. Accordingly both gifts and sacrifices are offered which are incapable of perfecting the conscience and renewing the [inner self of the] worshiper.
The law required that almost everything should be purified with blood, and the worshippers of God under the Mosaic law couldn't get to that point where they were satisfied that their conscience was right with God, hence this led to the sacrifice of bulls and goats in a repetitive manner to satisfy the conditions of the law.
The new man in Christ has been completely forgiven by God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary, which led to the shedding of His blood as a one time atonement for sins. On the cross of Calvary the justice of God was served because Jesus Christ paid the price for the sins of mankind, and those who are called by God, who believe in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ are justified and their conscience cleansed from dead works.
Hebrews 9:14 [AMP]:
how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal [Holy] Spirit willingly offered Himself unblemished [that is, without moral or spiritual imperfection as a sacrifice] to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works and lifeless observances to serve the ever living God?
Are you reading this article today and you have somehow felt in the past that the current happenings in your life is because God has not forgiven you from your past mistakes? This is not true, you have been completely forgiven by God and He bares no records of your past mistakes, hence you should walk in the revelation of that understanding by ensuring that your conscience is free from dead works.
The knowledge and the awareness of being completely forgiven by God through Christ, brings you into a deeper relationship and fellowship with Him, where the love of God tears down any barrier that the devil might want to set up to keep you away from God.
Galatians 5:1 [AMP]:
It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed].
However, if Jesus Christ has completely set us free from the yoke of sin, the next question would be, for what purpose? Is it for us to go back to our old ways? or to embrace the light and revelation of God through Christ, which could not be attained by the law, that our lives may become the reflection of Jesus Christ, Who is now our standard.
THINGS TO NOTE:
1. A believer in Jesus Christ has been completely forgiven, and justified by God through Christ.
2. There is no new man without the cross of Calvary, neither can any man claim righteousness without Christ.
3. The blood of Jesus Christ is the atonement for sins, for without it, no man is cleansed from his transgressions.
4. The devil attempts to re-enact that veil of guilt that separates man from God, don't listen to him but point him to the cross of Calvary.
