The Mosaic law was very rigid when it comes to regulations and ordinances of divine worship. There was no form of flexibility, for everything was spelt out, which were meant to be followed to the letter inorder to avoid the judgement of transgression.
The High Priest during the era of the law, was the only one permitted to go through the veil that demarcated the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place, which was to be done once a year.
Leviticus 16:2 [AMP]:
The LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother that he must not enter at any time into the Holy Place inside the veil (the Holy of Holies), before the mercy seat which is on the ark, or he will die, for I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat
He was also the only one qualified to sprinkle blood on the mercy seat which seats above the Ark of God. More also, for the High Priest to come into the Most Holy Place, he had to sacrifice a sin offering for himself before going into the tarbenacle, otherwise he would die.
Leviticus 16:16 [AMP]:
Then Aaron shall present the bull as the sin offering for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house.
However, when the bull is killed, the High Priest is to take the blood and proceed to the Most Holy place with a censer full of burning coals of fire, and also with his hands full of sweet incense into the veil. The blood is sprinkled on the mercy seat, and a goat is also killed for the sins of the people which is also sprinkled on the mercy seat as atoment for the people.
Leviticus 16:14 [AMP]:
He shall take some of the bull’s blood and sprinkle it with his finger on the east side of the mercy seat; also in front of the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.
Leviticus 16:15 [AMP]:
Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for [the sins of] the people and bring its blood within the veil [into the Most Holy Place] and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and in front of the mercy seat.
The body of the animals which were used for the sin offerings for both the High Priest and the people were burnt outside the camp.
Hebrews 13:11 [AMP]:
The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp.
It is worthy to note that when the High priest came into the Most Holy Place, God saw the blood of atonement which was that of a bull, and this shielded him from instant judgement which obviously could lead to his death.
However, it's also interesting to note that Jesus Christ, Who is the mediator and the High Priest of the New Convenant was killed outside the City gate, just like the bull which was killed outside the camp as a sin offering for the High Priest under the Mosaic law.
In the case of Jesus Christ, He did not enter the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle of Heaven with the blood of bulls and goats, but offered Himself as a one time sacrifice for the atonement of sins.
Hebrews 9:12 [AMP]:
He went once for all into the Holy Place [the Holy of Holies of heaven, into the presence of God], and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, having obtained and secured eternal redemption [that is, the salvation of all who personally believe in Him as Savior].
Furthermore, as Jesus Christ proceeded to the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle of heaven, the veil separating the Holy Place and the Most Holy place in the Mosaic law tabernacle, tore into two from top to bottom, because that was the representation of the flesh of Jesus Christ which was nailed to the cross of Calvary.
Hebrews 10:20 [AMP]:
by this new and living way which He initiated and opened for us through the veil [as in the Holy of Holies], that is, through His flesh.
Mathew 27:50 [AMP]:
And Jesus cried out again with a loud [agonized] voice, and gave up His spirit [voluntarily, sovereignly dismissing and releasing His spirit from His body in submission to His Father’s plan].
Mathew 27:51 [AMP]:
And [at once] the veil [of the Holy of Holies] of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; the earth shook and the rocks were split apart.
Jesus Christ presented Himself to God in the Holy of Holies, not just as the High Priest of the New Convenant, but as the sacrifice for the sins of mankind, hence there was no blood sprinkled on the mercy seat as in the case of the Mosaic law, for Jesus Christ is the sacrifice.
Hebrews 9:24 [AMP]:
For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but [He entered] into heaven itself, now to appear in the very presence of God on our behalf;
This is the reason why Apostle John was taken into the Holy of Holies of God where he saw the ark of the convenant which was the true imagery that was copied in the tabernacle of the Mosaic Law.
Revelation 11:19 [AMP]:
And the temple of God which is in heaven was opened; and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple, and there were flashes of lightning, loud rumblings and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm.
In thesame manner, just like Apostle John, all who are in Jesus Christ would be granted access into the tabernacle of God in heaven, because Jesus Christ is the sacrifice Who stands continually in the presence of God [The Father].
There is no more condemnation against you who are in Jesus Christ.
...STAYED TUNED FOR THE FINAL PART.
