DOES A BELIEVER IN CHRIST NEED DELIVERANCE AFTER SALVATION? Pt [5]- Min. Awe Hilary
The subject of deliverance is quite vast, hence it was important for us to understand the basic components of salvation which gives contextual meanings to the term deliverance.
The believer in Christ has been delivered by God through Jesus Christ, by taking him or her from the standpoint of slavery to a place of dominion, where he or she is no longer recognized as a slave to sin, but a son or daughter of God through Jesus Christ.
Colossians 1:13 [AMP]
For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
The dominion of darkness was engineered by sin which was granted access through the disobedience of the first Adam, which made sin to rule mankind through the flesh with the overall resultant effect leading to death.
The deliverance of the believer through Christ, does not in anyway infer that the believer is immune to attacks, afflictions, conspiracies, or wars which are instituted by the devil, but an assurance that such a believer fights from a standpoint of dominion and not slavery, through the enforcement of his or her rights and privileges which are enshrined in the victory that was won on the cross for over 2,000 years by Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 6:13 [AMP]:
Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious].
God never told us, neither is it written anywhere in scriptures that the life of a believer is battle free or immune to attacks, but we are called to enthrone and enforce the mandate of God on the earth, and such comes through warfare, as we resist the devil and his works on all fronts, whether it be in our lives, family and corporately as a body.
More also, below are some frequently asked questions by believers in the bid to understand th subject of deliverance;
1. Can the devil attack me or institute a war against me as a believer in Christ? Yes he can. Attacks of the devil against a believer does not mean that the believer is in sin or engaging in dead works, but can be an affront to stop or hinder the manifestations of God in the life of that believer.
Mathew 16:23 [AMP]:
But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on things of God, but on things of man.”
2. Can the devil defeat me as a believer in Christ, even when Christ has won on the cross? Yes and No. A believer who fails to enforce his or her rights and privileges in Christ when confronted with a battle or an opposition from the devil, is like a soldier who goes to the battlefield with a loaded gun and refuses to fire a shot at the enemy.
This makes the enemy to gain much ground, by taking over territories that were previously under our influence and control. Unfortunately this is the condition of many believers who reminisce on the finished works of Christ, but fail to act on it in their personal lives, hence leading to an overwhelming invasion of the enemy. It also worthy to note that what we permit, is what we have allowed to happen, because God has given man jurisdiction over the realms of the earth.
James 4:7 [AMP]:
So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you.
3. Why does the devil keep fighting even when he knows that he has been defeated? The devil fights not to win God, because the victory has already been secured, but to hinder the works of God in the hands of believers, so that the victory that God has won on our behalf would not be spread to the ends of the earth.
1 Thessalonians 2:18 [AMP]:
For we wanted to come to you—I, Paul, again and again [wanted to come], but Satan hindered us.
THINGS TO NOTE:
1. As a believer of Christ, you are an enforcer of Christ's victory on the cross.
2. God is committed to the continual deliverance of His people from the wickedness of the wicked.
3. You are delivered by God as a believer, and your approach to any situation must come from the standpoint of that deliverance, and not from the place of defeat.
