 HEAVEN & THE KINGDOM OF GOD [Pt 2]

They are many who once asked a question that was perceived to be strange and heretic by the brethren. They asked: Where was God before the creation? The Psalmist gives an answer to this question by stating that God lives above the Heavens. This is because the Glory of God which signifies His eternal presence, was already established before the creation of the Heavens. 

Psalms 8:1

[1]O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens!

The Heavens are physical locations which were first created by God in the order of creation, as realms above the earth. 

Genesis 1:1

[1]In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

They are layered into three, which means that there are three heavens as revealed in scriptures, which are;

1. The first heaven.

2. The second heaven.

3. The third heaven. 

The first heaven is the firmament just above our heads, when you look into the sky. 

Genesis 1:6-8

[6]Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

[7]Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.

[8]And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.

It's a natural habitat for birds and all flying creatures, and also in today's word, we use it as air routes for aviation, space travels, tourism, climatological studies and research etc. The first heaven is visible to the natural eyes, and through it you can view various stratas of atmosphere, we can see the Sun and also the moon, which were elements placed by God to control lightings in the day and night, and also for seasons.

Genesis 1:16-18

[16]Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.

[17]God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,

[18]and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

These information were made possible by a revelational account, when God gave Prophet Moses the access to view His back. This was not an act of viewing God's physical form, but an access to God's past which contained the history of creation.

Exodus 33:20-23

[20]But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.”

[21]And the Lord said, “Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock.

[22]So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by.

[23]Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.”

This makes the Torah the most important and foundational book on earth as it pertains to the revelation of God in the past, the present and the future, which has been greatly referenced by different religions as their validation to the history of creation.

THINGS TO NOTE:

1. God is one, and He is Who He is.

2. Religion does not define God. He defines Himself.

3. The History of the Heavens and the Earth are traceable to God. 

4. God is willing to reveal Himself to us, if we would stop leaning on our human understanding and seek Him.
