THE BELIEVER'S RIGHTEOUSNESS IN GOD [Pt 5C]

- Awe Hilary

The story of Noah holds many symbolisms which foreshadows the salvific work of God in Christ, and in this article they shall be emphasized.

1. THE CALL:

God is the caller of the saved, and He does this because He cannot impose His will on us, rather He presents us with the best option. The work of salvation was never man's idea, but God's plan to give man rest by saving him from impending destruction.

Genesis 6:13-14

[13]And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

[14]Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.

This foreshadows the day of the Lord, which would be unto the saved like Noah and his family, and unto the unsaved like those who were destroyed by the flood.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-5

[1]But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.

[2]For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.

[3]For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.

[4]But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.

[5]You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.

THINGS TO NOTE:

1. God is the caller.

2. God determines the nature of the call.

3. God does not impose the call on the called, but it is great wisdom for the called to accept the call of God.

.... TO BE CONTINUED.
