MODULE 2: THE NEW TESTAMENT WAY TO DEAL WITH YOUR HUMAN ENEMIES BY EVANGELIST OGHOGHO IKPONMWOSA (PHD)
The book of Leviticus is full of laws which we are not required to follow today as those under the New Covenant.
I shall list a few of them so as to drive home the point that the Old Covenant is indeed different from the New Covenant and we cannot do everything we see written in the Old Testament without checking them with the New Testament Law of love.
As you read through this list remember that nothing that defiles or is unclean will be allowed to enter the New Jerusalem (The glorious city of God after the second resurrection and white throne judgment) Rev 21:27.
Let us begin.
1. The Old Testament Saints were to eat only certain beasts or animals. They were forbidden to eat several animals because the animals were unclean to them. Animals like snail, Pig, Fishes without scales, etc. were all unclean and should not be eaten. They also became unclean if they touched a dead animal or if a dead animal fell upon them. If the dead animal also fell on any vessel of wood, or skin or piece of cloth or water body, they all became unclean. If the dead animal also falls on any seed which is to be sown, the seed becomes unclean. Lev 11:1-47.
2. If a woman gives birth, she is unclean and must continue in the blood of her purifying for some specified days. She has to come to the Priest at the end of the specified period with specified animals to make atonement for her cleansing and she shall be cleansed. This means she became unclean just because blood is flowing out of her due to child birth and not because she did anything that broke the New Testament law of love. Lev 12:1-8.
3. If someone has an infectious skin disease anywhere on his body he will be ceremonially unclean. He must be separated from the Camp. Eczema is included in these infectious skin diseases that could make them unclean. Lev 13:1-59, 14:1-33.
4. Even a house where a mildew or mould or mushroom is growing could be considered unclean if the mildew continues to spread. Once the house is confirmed unclean it must be torn down and taken out of the town to an unclean place. If it is left and someone enters into it, the person becomes unclean until the evening. Lev. 14:34-57.
We shall continue with this list in the next module.
