In this module we shall continue to look at scriptures that clearly tell us that the New Testament is not without a law. Let us look at the account of James in James 1:25.
James 1:25
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. KJV
Notice that Apostle James also refers to a law which he calls the perfect law of liberty. Again this scripture refers to a law that we are to look into in the New Testament. Notice it is called the perfect law of liberty.
Scriptures teaches clearly that when LOVE which is perfect comes that which is imperfect shall be done away with (1Cor 13:10). The perfect law of liberty is indeed the law of LOVE because LOVE is that which is perfect that has come in the New Testament.
Let us look at what Apostle Paul also said about the New Testament law in Galatians 6:1-2.
Gal 6:1-2
1. Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
2. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.KJV
In this scripture Apostle Paul said we should treat people who have been overtaken in a fault in the spirit of meekness which is a product of love. We are to respond to them in LOVE so that they can be restored.
He then made a very profound statement that we are to bear one another’s burden because by doing so we will fulfill the law of Christ.
It is clear that Love helps us to bear one another’s burden. Apostle Paul was actually saying that by walking in LOVE we fulfill the law of Christ.
In other words he was telling us that the law of Christ or the law of the New Testament is LOVE.
We shall look at scriptures where Jesus Christ himself gave love as His law in the next module.
