MODULE 14 THE NEW TESTAMENT WAY TO DEAL WITH YOUR HUMAN ENEMIES BY OGHOGHO IKPONMWOSA (PHD)

We ended the last module by looking at Gal 6:1-2 where Apostle Paul told us about the law of Christ. Remember that he also said that he was under the law to Christ in 1Cor. 9:21.
In this module we shall look at the numerous statements Jesus made with respect to the law or commandment of LOVE which He came to establish in the New Covenant.

LOVE is both a law or commandment that we are to live by and keep in the New Testament (John 13:34, 15:12, 1John 3:23, 4:21, 2:8-11) and a fruit that we are to bear (Gal 5:22-23, John 15:1-12) all by the help of the Holy Spirit who has been given to us to shed God’s love in our hearts (Romans 5:5).

Apart from openly teaching that all the Old Testament laws and the Prophets hang on the law of LOVE (Matthew 22:36-40), Jesus spoke very clearly on several occasions that LOVE was His law or the New commandment which He requested His disciples to follow.

Jesus handed down only one law to His disciples and this law is LOVE. This one law fulfils all the Old Testament laws (Matthew 22:36-40, Romans 13:8-10).
As a way of concluding this module let us look at the numerous scriptures where Jesus gave His one law or commandment.
John 13:33-35

33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.KJV

John 15:8-14

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.KJV

John 15:17

17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.KJV

I believe that you can clearly see that Jesus in clear terms told us that He has a new commandment which He came to establish. He was not careful to instruct His disciples that this is the commandment which they must now follow.

Jesus gave only one law or commandment to His disciples because all the laws of the Old Testament hang on or are fulfilled in this one LAW or commandment of the New Testament known as LOVE.

In the next module we shall begin to look again with more details at other witnesses who also re-echoed what Jesus said about LOVE. To say that the New Testament does not have its law or commandment is to say that Jesus, Apostle Paul, Apostle James and Apostle John told a lie which is impossible.
To be continued...

Story of how LESTER SUMRALL met with HOWARD CARTER

LESTER Sumrall was a 20th century giant of faith, and worldwide missionary statesman, who demonstrated the power of the gospel in his pastoral and evangelical ministry. He also had a personal relationship with Smith Wigglesworth. And travelled widely with Howard Carter. This, culled from Dr. Sumrall's 'Pioneers of Faith', is the story of how he met Mr. Carter. It was 1932. Brother Lester was 19, and brother Howard was 41: I was sitting in a little church in Tennessee looking at the young man who was leading the music. Suddenly, the scene before me vanished, and I saw thousands of Japanese, Chinese, Lndians, Malaysians, Indonesians, Indians, Africans, Latin Americans, Europeans and people from the ocean islands on one road going one direction ...Trembling and crying, I asked, "What shall I do?" God said, "You have to go to these people." I said, "I don't like those people. I have never seen a Japanese person in my life. I don't know tho...

THE OLD CONVENANT IS A SHADOW OF THE NEW CONVENANT [pt 4] - Min. Awe Hilary

It is an interesting fact to know that 99.99% of most religions practiced today are imitations of either the Mosaic law as given to the Jews by God or idolatry as invented by men through the interface of spiritual entities as a way of worship. Idol worship and the Mosaic law are the oldest well known religious institutions that have existed on the earth. The Mosaic law which is the Old Convenant is a shadow of the New Convenant which could not come into effect as long as the law was still in place. Hebrews 9:8 [AMP]: By this the Holy Spirit signifies that the way into the Holy Place [the true Holy of Holies and the presence of God] has not yet been disclosed as long as the first or outer tabernacle is still standing [that is, as long as the Levitical system of worship remains a recognized institution]. More also, if the Old Convenant is a shadow of the New Convenant, then it signifies that they both have One Spirit [The Spirit of God], same pattern with different realities but one purp...
