In this module I will be sharing my experiences with Witches which I believe will help us appreciate all I have been saying so far with respect to applying Ex.22:18 in the New Covenant.
In March 2015, I saw six boys (between the ages of 10 to 14years) approaching me as I sat in the Pastors chair on the altar after I finished preaching in a church. One of them stepped closer to me and said “Pastor I am a witch. I need deliverance”. Sincerely I was surprised because I did not expect him to be so direct with such a request.
I asked him if he understood what he was saying. He repeated it and added that it was his Grandmother who initiated him into witchcraft. I asked the others what they wanted and they said they came with their friend. So I told the five friends who came with this young Teenager requesting for deliverance to go back and wait in the Pews.
Immediately I was instructed by the Holy Spirit to ask him to look in three directions inside the Church. Each time he looked at a direction I pointed to him, he saw a huge man in shining white garment with wings and a sword in his hand. He did not know it was an Angel but described them as men.
I asked if he knew that I have authority to help him. He said he knew I had authority to help him hence he came to see me. He said he had killed several people with the spirit of witchcraft and he does not want to continue with that.
I immediately requested that he gives me permission to deal with the devil for him which he gladly did. In a single command I told the evil spirit to come out of him and he was immediately delivered. I called the other boys to join us and I gave all of them the gospel. They all accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
I immediately laid hands on all six of them to receive the Holy Spirit. Right there five (including the boy who was just delivered from the spirit of witchcraft) out of six of them received the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues.
They all spoke in tongues for about fifteen minutes that day inside that church. You could see the joy that flooded the heart of this boy who was just delivered. God gave Him His Spirit and did not kill him because he was a witch as Ex. 22:18 required. Is God breaking His word? Obviously something has changed in the New Covenant.
Another experience I had was another Teenager who was delivered after I finished preaching in a Secondary school. At the end of my message I called up people who had issues with oppression and possession by unclean spirits and several of them came out. I gave the command right there to the entire group that the devils should leave them and stop oppressing them after which I led them to accept Jesus.
At the end of the service, one of the Teachers came up to me and told me that there is a girl she wanted me to pray for. According to her this girl was always stealing things she did not need. They were wondering why she always stole.
She said that the School has decided to expel her from school because of this evil character. She was hoping that I could minister to her having seen the miraculous work God did in that meeting. She then left to look for her so as to bring her to me.
As God would have it, the girl herself also came to me and told me exactly the same story hence I knew it was her case the Teacher was talking about. She told me that while I was preaching she saw two Mighty Angels with me on the altar.
She said she came out when I made the call for people who wanted to be free from the oppression of the devil. She also informed me that her Grandmother had initiated her into witchcraft and that is what was responsible for her stealing. She did not want to continue stealing or going for the night meetings but she did not have the strength to stop it.
However she said as soon as I gave the command for the evil spirit to leave her during the service, she felt like vomiting hence she rushed to the toilet beside the Chapel we use for the service and vomited something she does not know.
I knew in my spirit that she had been delivered during the service hence there was no need to minister deliverance to her again. I asked if she had said the salvation prayer during the service and she said she did. Then I told her that what she really need now was to receive the Holy Spirit.
I laid hands on her to receive the Holy Spirit and she immediately received the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues. Right before me, her countenance lit up. I could see the change and the glow that took over.
I followed her up for over a year before I left that Town. The Vice Principal testified to the fact that she immediately stopped stealing after she was delivered. The decision to send her away from the school was reversed. She was allowed to continue with her education in that same school. God delivered her, saved her and filled her with His Spirit. Again Ex 22:18 was not applied to her by God.
I could go on and share several other experiences with people possessed with unclean spirits but I believe these two are just enough to show that we cannot hold on to Ex 22:18 as the scripture that tells us to kill witches because God has made a change in His dealings with humanity when He introduced the New Covenant.
I understand that some Witches may not seek or desire deliverance. However we must recognize that they are in bondage and it will take our prayers of intercession to open their eyes to begin to have such a desire to be delivered and saved (2Cor 4:3-4, 1Timothy 2:1-4).
We must recognize that a witch, a wizard, someone in occult, or anyone possessed by evil and wicked spirits is in bondage. They all desperately need you and me to help them obtain their freedom which Jesus already paid for.
Which would have been better: that I killed these witches or helped them find deliverance, become saved and filled with the Holy Spirit?
If any Witch chooses to ignore God’s grace presented to them as we stand in intercession for them, then we have done our part and they will have to face the consequences of such a bad choice just like every other sinner who rejects Jesus Christ will also face theirs.
To be continued....
