Members of the Union Baptist Church and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Osogbo, Osun State, occupied the streets to protest the incessant killings in the North East and the frequent attacks of suspected herdsmen in other parts of the country.
The Chairman of Nigerian Baptist Church, Reverend Olumide Kehinde told journalist that Nigerians voted for the present adminiatration and it was however the duty of the government to protect its citizens.
"These killings must stop, the herdsmen must stop killing, Chibok girls must be released immediately. Leah Sharibu, the only Daphchi school girl still in Boko Haram hands must be released."
"The Church has been proactive for long, believing that these killings will stop. But this time, we are taking the battle to the enemies gate. The president who God has given the mandate to rule Nigerians, must see to it that all of these killings stop" he said.
Also during the protest, Reverend Kehinde asked Christians to defend themselves, because there was no other option than for Christians to defend themselves.
