Peter had walked with Jesus for three years
Peter had seen Jesus transfigured
He had seen Moses and Elijah talking with Him
Peter received revelation from the Father
And declared that Jesus was the God's Son
Yet, when Jesus wanted to wash his feet in John 13; and Peter said no, Jesus told him "If you don't allow me wash your feet...YOU HAVE NO PART WITH ME
You know after Jesus washed their feet and dried them, he explained the significance of what he did. He said if He the Lord and Master had stooped so low to do the meanest service for them, he was showing them how they ought to treat each other.
Treating each other with love and humility, relating as dear brothers; not as big men of God
Not trying to out do your brother or sister
Watching his meetings to see whether they are larger than yours
Refusing to attend his program because he is hosting a man of God you've been trying to inviting but who has not answered you
Following him to the carpark after conferences to see which car he is now driving, and to calculate how many he now has
Stressing out your church members and flogging their pockets to sponsor your overseas trip so that you can beat his travel record (do you think that's how he does it?)
Finding out which school his children attend so you can change yours to one that is equal or higher....(You wee just kee yasef)
Eyeing your pastor husband's fellow pastor's wife's clothes and shoes and promising yourself that next time you meet in the same program you will out-dress her
You want to out-protocol him, so you are now walking around with 12 disciples wearing dark shades.
What is the matter?
Dear servant of the Lord...
Peter had co-organised several word and healing meetings, with thousands taught, healed, and fed.
He had walked on water! (The ones you are competing with, have they done so?)
He had healed the sick
He had cast out demons?
Yet the Lord told him if you don't allow me wash your feet, if you don't understand that the most important aspect of this ministry is how you treat one another
My understanding of what the Lord said is:
It doesn't matter how many demons you have cast out, you too will be cast out
It doesn't matter how many people you have healed, you are ill and wretched
It doesn't matter how many word conferences and seminars you have organised, My word is not in you
It doesn't matter how long you've been in ministry or who you know in ministry
You have no share with me!
My brother, won't be rewarded for
finer suits
beautiful dresses
satellite hats
latest phones
wireless mics,
longer convoys,
bigger speakers,
awesome cameras,
bigger churches,
choreographers that can bend like earthworm
ushers that stand like stick-meat,
larger meetings,
more services,
more big men of God coming around,
Or even more miracles....
There is no reward for all these inherently wonderful things if a good conscience, sincere faith and unpretentious love are not at the back of all these things
That's what the Bible says
Matthew 7:22-23
Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform MANY MIRACLES?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
YOU HAVE NO PART WITH ME
That's what the Lord told Peter
And it has always shocked me
Anytime I am forgetting to reject the ailment that once turned a most beautiful archangel and cherub into a full time devil, I allow it to shock me some more
Dear pastor
You may not be sleeping around with secretaries and choir members and men, but rivalry and strife and trying to outdo the next person is just as bad
James 3:16
For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
Dear senior pastor,
dear pastor's wife,
dear director of church finances,
dear head of protocol
dear wonderful sister; per excellence soloist and chorister
dear PA number 1 and official Bible carrier for senior pastor
Dear administrator of the church and member of parochial committee
Luke 16:15
And He (Jesus) told them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly admired by people is revolting in God’s sight.
The things that are soooooo important to men are usually of least importance to God. Sometimes what is of greatest importance to Jesus, on which everything else hangs....Will surprise you
Will you allow this surprise you too?
It is a pleasant surprise. Please stop chasing shadows, control your appetites, be faithful to your calling, embrace your brothers and sisters, avoid those bent on competition, be wise
Be wise
If you don't let this one shock you as it has shocked me
You won't be shocked on the day of reckoning
You will be shocked oooooooo!
