The believers authority is in Jesus Christ and Him alone, for without Christ there is no authority anywhere for the believer. It is on the basis of what Jesus Christ has done that gives the believer the authority to lay hold on what God has to offer. The provisions of God answers to the finished work of Jesus Christ, and through Christ, the believer is qualified to receive the fullness of God in all aspects.
Mathew 28:18 [NIV]:
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me
The word AUTHORITY in the above scriptures is translated from an ancient Greek word, EXOUSIA which infers a legal right or a conveyance of delegated power to function in an office that bares or is an exact replica of the personality of God [The Father], to Whom all power belongs.
Psalm 62:11 [NIV]:
One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: “Power belongs to you, God
Philippians 2:9 [NIV]:
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
Philippians 2:10 [NIV];
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The authority which has been conferred on Jesus Christ by God [The Father], giving Him ownership of all things, gives Him Who is the Christ the right to confer thesame rights and privileges which He has received from God [The Father] to anyone who believes.
Luke 10:22 [NIV]:
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 [NIV]:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

Jesus Christ is the believers authority.
