HEAVEN & THE KINGDOM OF GOD [Pt 14]

..... Discovering Heaven.

Pt3:

The promise of fruitfulness and exceeding greatness [Genesis 17:6].

Genesis 17:6

[6]I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.

In today's world, people tend to confuse the God's given ability of man, which enables him to prosper, with the Covenant of God, hence wealth is seen as more of the sign of the Covenant. This is actually not so. While the Covenant has the ability to produce wealth, on the other hand, wealth cannot be used to define the Covenant.

In the beginning, God gave mankind the ability to prosper and multiply, hence, every man has the inherent ability to prosper and multiply, but not all who prosper and multiply, are in the Covenant of God. This is why it is natural for men and women to produce offsprings when there is an intimate action, or for a non believer, or even an atheist to become a billionaire, or even the richest in his time. These are inherent abilities that God has placed in mankind.

God made several promises of prosperity and fruitfulness to Abraham, but that was not the substance of the Covenant.

Genesis 17:7

[7]And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.

The Covenant of God with Abraham, was an official declaration of His Lordship, to be a God to him and his descendants. It had a spiritual and salvific essence, through which God would perform His salvation and also bring Abraham and his descendants into His Kingdom.

In the Part B of this article, we would look at the Case study of ISAAC and ISHMAEL.

THINGS TO NOTE:

1. The Covenant of God is the declaration of His Lordship and sovereignty.

2. The Covenanted are the receptors of His Lordship, who abide in His sovereignty, as God.

3. The Covenant opens the Covenanted to the provisions of God, as their source and provider.  Wealth does not define the Covenant, neither can it be used to replace the Covenant.
