THE BELIEVER'S RIGHTEOUSNESS IN GOD [Pt 5]

- Awe Hilary

In part 4 of this series, pertinent questions were asked with respect to the era of Prophet Noah, and some where;

1. If there was no Law, how would they know how to conduct themselves before God and man.

This particular question was answered in the previous part, but there is another question, which is;

2. If there were no Laws in the era of Noah, how could the people be adjudged as wicked? What standard did God apply to give such measurement?

The story of Prophet Noah and the flood, is both symbolic and prophetic. Symbolic in the sense that, it mirrors an event that is yet to occur, and prophetic, because it is speaking to a generation and forewarning them to take heed and understand the similitude of a future occurrence

Matthew 24:37-39

[37]But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

[38]For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,

[39]and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Many have attributed God's destruction of the earth with flood, as due to the operations of the Nephilims and the great wickedness that happened during that era. Moreover, that isn't the central theme for that narration, because the story of Noah was about Faith and Salvation. God is communicating a message to the future generations, and it was not surprising that Jesus Christ re- emphasized it.

What would have happened if a Nephilim found his way into the Ark, would God have asked Prophet Noah to send him out? Or would a prostitute, a thief or a murderer be sent out as well? What was the qualification for entry?

1 Peter 3:20

[20]who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.

The Ark was visible enough for everyone to see, and during the construction of the Ark, God exercised great patience (forbearance), because He wanted to save the wicked, but they rejected His message and Saving grace.

THINGS TO NOTE

1. The Ark was a message.

2. The Ark was symbolic of God's righteousness.

3. The Ark was symbolic to the qualification of Salvation.

4. The sealed were the occupants of the Ark.

In the Part B of this article, the symbolisms would be explained.
